BJP MP from Mandsaur Sudhir Gupta has questioned the title of sainthood given to Mother Teresa, and alleged that she was into converting little abandoned children into Roman Catholics.

Talking to a private television channel, he said there was no question that Mother Teresa had served the poor in the country, but her act of converting little kids without their consent was troubling and the world should think about it.

Presenting his argument, Gupta said that Baba Amte also served the people, but he never converted the religion of a person and neither does Kailash Satyarthi, who received Noble prize for his work on children’s rights.

Gupta alleged that Mother Teresa did not even spare Protestant kids whom she looked after and made them Catholics.

However, Roman Catholic father in Mandsaur, Thomas Canady dismissed the allegations and said that Mother Teresa’s, now Saint Teresa work has been accepted world wide and even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honoured Saint Teresa in his ‘Maan Ki Baat’ programme, so there is no question of doubting her credentials. The Father said that if a MP questions her, then it only reflects his ‘narrow Hindutva ideology.’
