The police in Madhya Pradesh's Khargone district have recovered the body of 14-year-old girl stuffed in a gunny bag on Friday.
Police said the deceased, identified as a resident of Kakadgaon village, went missing on Wednesday. The accused had raped her before murdering, they said.
Khargone superintendent of police Amit Singh said that the girl went to purchase shampoo from a nearby grocery shop on Wednesday, but never returned.
The girl's family members began a search in the village and registered a missing complaint at Gogwa police station.
This is the second such incident reported from the village within a span of four months.
Earlier, four months back, a 14-year-old girl was raped and murdered by one Shivshankar Mankar and a local court had sentenced him to life.
On Friday, police got call from villagers that foul smell was emanating from a house. Police swung into action and found a gunny bag from which the body was recovered.
After preliminary investigation it was confirmed that she had been raped before murder.
SP Singh said police have rounded up few suspects from the village. However, the victim's family members informed police that one person from the village was missing since Wednesday and he could be involved in the crime.
