Even as the BJP is aiming to ride the sympathy wave for the late MLA Tukojirao Puar in the upcoming Dewas assembly by-election, party’s candidate Gayatri Raje Puar is focusing on the development plank.
The 50-year-old has never been involved in active politics before standing for the by-elections following her husband’s untimely death.
Talking to HT, she said that although her late husband had been working for the development of Dewas for the past three decades, many pending works have to be completed.
“I have entered the field of politics to complete the unfinished works of the late Maharaja. It is also my duty to complete the projects, and I will dedicate them to his memory,” she said.
Outlining her priorities for Dewas, Raje said, “The region suffers from water scarcity and providing water around the clock is my priority along with improving the education and healthcare facilities. Improving road connectivity in rural areas is another area of focus,” she said.
Speaking about the murder charges against her son Vikramrao Puar, Gayatri Raje said that she had full faith in the judicial system and believed that her son would soon be proved innocent.
