Air connectivity from Indore has received an impetus with IndiGo Airlines launching an Indore-Lucknow flight from Monday. There are two flights, one in the morning and another in the evening. The morning flight will leave Indore at 10am and reach Lucknow at 2pm. The evening flight’s scheduled departure is at 5.10pm and it will arrive in Lucknow at 9.10pm. The flight will go via Mumbai.
Indore is connected to major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Koltaka, Pune, Goa, Nagpur, Raipur and Srinagar. Until last year, Jet used to operate flights between Indore, Patna and Lucknow, but the operations were stopped.
Meanwhile, the MP Tourism Development Corporation will re-invite bids for launching air taxi operations between major cities of Madhya Pradesh. The corporation has relaxed certain conditions in the new tenders after it failed to get a proper response during the last round of the tendering process.
“The company that bags the contract will have a choice to launch operations with a single aircraft and induct another aircraft after four months,” a department official said.
Earlier, Ventura Airlines had launched air taxi services among Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur. However, its contract expired, and it has not shown any inclination to renew the contract.
The corporation has re-invited bids which will be opened on February 23.
It has reduced the earnest money and bank guarantee amount to attract more bidders. The corporation expects that flights will become operational by April.
