The Dhodhar police chowki under the Ringnode police station on Tuesday arrested six persons including two women from Pipliyajodha village for allegedly keeping two persons captive.

The chowki in-charge, sub-inspector RL Meena, said the women accused were identified as Sharda (42) and Divya (23) who belonged to the Banchada community that practices prostitution as a caste tradition.

The others accused were identified as Farid, Devendra, Shantilal and Ram and are all residents of the Chiklana village.

Meena added that on March 3, two persons — Ramprasad Jat and Lokendra Singh, resident of Satwasa village, had gone to Divya’s house in a jeep.

Meanwhile, Farid, a local farmer, who was in love with Divya and used to pay monthly maintenance to her on the condition that she won’t get into prostitution, got the information and along with three other aids went to Divya’s place where Sharda too was present.

Finding Jat and Singh’s jeep outside Divya’s home, the accused decided to imprison both Jat and Singh at Divya’s house.

The accused later asked a ransom of Rs 5 lakh to both Jat and Singh’s families.

On Monday night, Jat and Singh somehow managed to escape from the house and reached the police station.

After the two narrated their story the Ringnode police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested all the six accused and registered a case.
