A 40-year-old patient was raped by two ward boys at district hospital in Ujjain. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The accused have been identified as Kanhiyalal and Dharmendra.

According to Madhav Nagar police, the victim complained of extreme abdominal on Saturday evening. Accordingly, her family members took her to the district hospital, where doctors told them to admit her. Once she was admitted, the family members went back home to bring mattress and bedsheet.

Finding her alone, the accused took her to an empty ward on a stretcher and outraged her modesty.

The victim later narrated the whole incident to her family members. Enraged, the family members created a ruckus on the hospital campus and demanded that both the accused be handed over to them.

The family members somehow managed to catch hold of both the accused and gave them a sound beating before the police arrived at the spot. A crowd had meanwhile gathered on hearing about the incident. However, taking advantage of the situation, Dharmendra managed to slip from the victim family members' grip.

When contacted, Madhav Nagar police station in-charge, RK Singh confirmed the incident and said a case has been registered against both the accused under Section 376(2)B (gang rape) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC. The police have arrested Kanhiyalal, while search for Dharmendra is on.

Assuring stern action against both the accused, Ujjain civil surgeon DP Geherwar said the health department will suspend both the accused once they get copy of the FIR from police.
