A woman police constable, who is posted at Moghat police station in Khandwa, alleged on Saturday that she was sexually assaulted by former inspector in-charge of the same police station. The woman constable belongs to minority community.
According to the woman constable, Ravindra Yadav, who was transferred to Narmadanagar police station on Saturday afternoon, tried to sexually exploit her. The woman constable further said that after finishing her duty at 8.30pm, she was on the way to take her vehicle parked some distance away from the room on the premises of the police station. She alleged that Yadav called her inside the room, bolted it from inside and made advances towards her.
“I shouted and the TI tried to shut my mouth. After 5-10 minutes, when my brother Syed Javid Ali came and knocked the door, he opened it. My brother saved me from the TI by intervening timely,” the woman constable said in her complaint.
As the information about the alleged misbehavior spread, minority community members gathered on the police station premises. Heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
However, Yadav denied the allegations. “It was pre-planned to defame me. I am not involved in this activity. All the allegations are false and baseless,” Yadav told HT.
Khandwa superintendent of police MK Sikarwar said that an FIR under Sections 342, 354 of IPC has been lodged at the Moghat police station. “TI Ravindra Yadav has been line attached and further investigations are in progress," the SP said.
