Indore police have recorded statements in the Rekha Bairagi missing case to lodge a fresh case diary after they failed to locate the original one filed way back in 2009.
Senior police officers told Hindustan Times that a team has been formed under the city superintendent of police to investigate the missing case of Rekha Bairahi – a cousin of Mahesh Bairagi.
Earlier this month, Mahesh was arrested in the sensational Kavita Raina murder case. Police had taken more than three months to solve the case after Kavita’s body parts were found from a nullah on August 24.
“The diary was not found and, hence, we have lodged a new case diary and started investigating the case. Some senior police officers will interrogate Mahesh if needed. We are probing the case and expect to solve the case soon,” DIG Santosh Kumar Singh said.
Rekha, a cousin of Mahesh, had gone missing in 2009. Police sources said Rekha was married to Baroda resident Bablu in 2008 and the couple had arrived in Indore to stay with Mahesh.
Soon after the arrest of Mahesh, Rekha’s mother Maya Devi had claimed that Mahesh had eliminated her daughter and police should probe murder angle while probing the case. Bairagi had been previously booked for making porn CDs, and was known to be obsessed with sex, police sources said.
