A Class 8 student of Delhi Public School (DPS), Astik Khare (13), died under mysterious circumstances after 'falling' from the roof of a 10-storey building of Shalimar Township on Saturday evening.

Astik's father, Manish Khare, is an excise officer posted in Jhabua. The boy used to live with his family in their own house in Scheme number 114, behind Shalimar Township. Police have registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC and started investigation.

Some of Astik's friends live in Shalimar Township and he often used to visit the township to play with his friends but on Saturday he did not meet anyone, revealed primary investigation.

As per CCTV footage retrieved from the township, Astik came to the township at 2.40pm and entered the lift of the building at 2.44pm. Exactly after six minutes, his body was found below the 10-storey building (Premium Tower-5) at 2.50pm. In Premium Tower-5, only two flats were occupied in which one is of an elderly couple.

Astik's family alleged some foul play but police said the possibility of murder seems minimal. Astik's friends claimed that every time he came to the township, he used to give them a call but on Saturday he did not call them.

The police are retrieving other details about Astik and investigation is on.
