A senior accountant of Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT) in Indore, Rajesh Topno (45), committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan on Sunday morning. Police have registered a case under Section 174 CrPC and started investigation.
The incident occurred in the residential quarters of RRCAT under Rajendra Nagar police station. Police are yet to ascertain the reason for suicide.
Police sources said that Topno, a native of Jharkhand, was an alcoholic. He was transferred to RRCAT from Ravatbhata (Rajasthan) about three years ago.
Sources claimed he went to meet somebody on Sunday evening. "When he returned in the night in an inebriated state, he told his wife that he had a brawl with someone and later he committed suicide in the wee hours," said a senior police official while talking to Hindustan Times.
The officer further said the police are trying to identify the person with whom the deceased had a brawl.
On Sunday, when Topno’s wife knocked on the door of his room, she did not get any response. She called a neigbohour to break the door and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.
Police further said they were investigating the case from all angles as no suicide note was found from the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem and the report is yet to come.
Topno’s two daughters study in Indore.
