Stray dogs are on the prowl on the sprawling campus of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV).

A student was attacked by a stray dog on the university's Takshila Campus on Friday. The incident occurred when Rena Baghel, a student of School of Education (SoE), was attacked by dogs while she was going to her college. The dogs bit her leg leaving her critically injured.

Rena received five-six deep wounds and was saved by her friends who threw stones at the dogs.

The stray dogs are posing threat to the students and faculty members. On several occasions, visitors are taken by surprise as dogs chasing each other suddenly dart across the concrete paths. The students claim that despite repeated complaints, the university administration is yet to initiate any action to control the menace.

Notably, ahead of the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to the university for convocation, an Indore Municipal Corporation squad had captured many dogs and released them at a deserted place. However, the dogs are now back on the campus.
