The swine flu death toll reached five, after a 35-year-old woman from Harda succumbed to the disease on Monday. The woman was admitted at CHL Hospital since January 13 and was in a critical condition. She was having difficulty in breathing.
Dr Sanjay Dixit, the acting dean of MGM medical college, said, "She died on Monday. Ever since her death, we are monitoring the situation as this is the fifth death in a month."
A special five-member team has been constituted to monitor and supervise the treatment of swine flu patients. The total count of patients in the city has reached 13. "Out of the 13 positive patients, five died while the rest are undergoing treatment in hospitals," said Dr Dixit.
So far the health department has sent 27 samples for testing. To make people aware about the symptoms of the disease, an advisory has also been issued by the health department.
Hoardings bearing do's and don't's have been put up at 20-25 public places. Announcements on FM stations and advertisements are also being circulated to ensure that people are well aware about the disease and do not panic.
