When most of sadhus were busy in Shani Snan and other religious activities on the opening day of Simhastha in Ujjain, this saint called as “Environment Baba” planted trees to mark the World Earth Day on Friday.

Avadhoot Baba aka Environment Baba is planting trees and performing yogna to preserve environment since he came to Ujjain last month.

“Mother earth is the most important in my life. It has given us everything; the power to think and the vision to follow any religion. Hence, to save this earth, I have devoted all my life in planting trees,” said the seer.

About two dozen people from other countries also participated in the plantation.

“It is an honour to be a part of this plantation drive on the Earth Day along with Environment Baba. He is an example for every seer of every religion,” said Isabella from the Netherlands.

Baba said he would plant trees along the Ujjain ring road if the government allows him to do so.

His green initiative is not limited to the Simhastha fair. “I have taken a vow that I will conduct a padyatra from Vaishno Dham in Jammu to Kanyakumari and plant lakhs of saplings along the way,” he said.
