The BJP’s Tiranga Yatra has found several ministers, legislators and leaders on the wrong side of the law. Several leaders, including Madhya Pradesh home minister Bhoopendra Singh, rode into controversy recently when they were caught on camera riding two-wheelers without helmets.
On Sunday, Union minister of state for health Faggan Singh Kulaste was spotted without a headgear as he rode pillion with Nagar Singh Chaohan during the rally in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar.
Kulaste travelled about 35 km from Alirajpur to Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar on the bike without a helmet in violation of traffic rules.
“Helmet is for the urban areas. Alirajpur is a tribal, rural district and I wore a turban during the whole yatra,” Kulaste reported when questioned over the issue.
Sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) Anand Singh, who was also present at the rally, rubbished the charges against the minister. “The minister (Kulaste) was wearing helmet, he was not without helmet,” Singh said.
Congress district president Mahesh Patel criticised the Union minister and dubbed his act as a “mockery” of traffic rules. “Is he above law? Why is police not penalising him for breaking rules?”
