Symbolising the victory of good over evil on Dussehra, dozens of Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhakaran effigies went up in flames amid loud bursting of crackers and cheering by crowds of people across Indore on Tuesday evening.

Terrorism originating from across the Line of Control (LoC) was one of the popular themes this year. In Sadhna Nagar, the picture of Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif‘s face was pasted on Ravan effigy. But that was not all.

Other effigies had faces of mafia dons Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel and Al-Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden. Fittingly, a man wearing a mask of Prime Minister Narendra Modi set ablaze the effigy of Ravan.

Ravan was also made to look like Sharif at Nigam Road’s Dussehra celebration.

In Tilaknagar, a 71-feet effigy of Ravan added to the charm of the oldest effigy burning ritual in the city.

But the Ravan effigy at Dussehra Maidan – standing at 111 feet tall – dwarfed many of his ‘competitors’. The Dussehra Utsav Committee organised fireworks before the burning of the effigy.

Among other localities that saw effigy burning are Rambagh, Rajmohalla, Chhawni, Vijay Nagar, Yeshwant Club and Chimanbagh.
