Although Rahul Tewatia’s controlled leg-spin, through which he picked up two wickets for 18 runs, turned the game for Kings XI Punjab, it was all-rounder Axar Patel’s brilliant catch and direct-hit run out that changed the course of the game.
Patel plucked a brilliant catch to dismiss Robin Uthappa (0) after sprinting to his right from deep midwicket, diving to complete the catch a foot from the ground with both hands.
“That catch probably changed the game,” Tewatia was quoted by IPLT20 website.
Wickets of skipper Gautam Gambhir and Uthappa in the 10th over put the brakes on KKR’s scoring.
Patel was once again the star when his accurate throw from deep midwicket ran out the dangerous Chris Lynn, who smashed a 52-ball 84 to tilt the momentum in Kings XI Punjab’s favour.
Patel, who also received an award for the catch, was delighted with his fielding performance.
“We discuss in team meetings that fielding is also very important in changing momentum and today I did that with my fielding I think. So today I think I will get a lot of marks in the fielding department,” Patel said after the match.
