IPL 2017: Harbhajan Singh becomes third Indian to complete 200 T20 wickets
Harbhajan Singh, Mumbai Indians off-spinner, is now the third Indian and the 19th overall to snare 200 T20 scalps. He achieved the feat during IPL 2017 game vs Rising Pune Supergiant on Monday.
Harbhajan Singh became the third Indian and the 19th player overall to scalp 200 wickets in the shortest format of the game on Monday as he sent pack Steve Smith in the 13th over of IPL 2017 match against Rising Pune Supergiant, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. RPS won the match by 3 runs to rise to fourth position in the points table.
It was the last ball of his stipulated quota of overs when he sent Smith’s timber crashing, much to the delight of the packed home crowd. Smith had scored 17 off 12 balls and was looking to settle down out in the middle.
Harbhajan reached the landmark in his 225th game, after Ravichandran Ashwin and Amit Mishra who have 200 and 208 wickets respectively.
The Turbanator required just one wicket to reach the landmark but had gone wicketless in the previous two games against Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.
The wicket helped Mumbai Indians to a great extent to make a comeback in the game after Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi had provided a perfect platform with a 76-run opening stand for Rising Pune Supergiant. The visitors finally finished their innings on 160/6.
