The race for the IPL play-offs has intensified with six teams vying for the top four spots after Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore were eliminated. Following victories by Rising Pune Supergiant and Mumbai Indians on Saturday, the points table has witnessed some interesting movements. Here is what each team needs to do in order to seal a place in the knockouts.

Mumbai Indians

P - 11, W- 9, L - 2, Points – 18

Games remaining: vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 8), vs Kings XI Punjab (May 11), vs Kolkata Knight Riders (May 13)

What they have to do: Mumbai Indians have become the first team to qualify for the play-offs. They have to win two of the remaining three games to finish in the top two and play in Qualifier 1.

Rising Pune Supergiant

P - 12, W - 8, L - 4, Points - 16

Games remaining: vs Delhi Daredevils (May 12), vs Kings XI Punjab (May 14)

What they must do: Rising Pune Supergiant need to win only one game to make it to playoffs. In case they lose both, they must hope Kings XI Punjab do not win three out of four games. They must also hope Delhi Daredevils lose one more game and that Sunrisers Hyderabad lose their remaining two games.

Kolkata Knight Riders

P - 11, W - 7, L -4, Points - 14

Games remaining: vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (May 7), vs Kings XI Punjab (May 9), vs Mumbai Indians (May 13)

What they must do: Gautam Gambhir’s team must win two out of three games. If they lose all, they must hope Sunrisers Hyderabad lose their remaining games and that either of Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab win only two of their remaining games.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

P - 12, W - 6, L - 5, N/R - 1, Points - 13

Games remaining: vs Mumbai Indians (May 8), vs Gujarat Lions (May 13)

What they must do: The defending IPL champions must win their remaining games. Losing both games will put them in danger and they will sneak in provided Delhi Daredevils lose one more game and that Kings XI Punjab are victorious in just one.

Kings XI Punjab

P - 10, W - 5, L - 5, Points - 10

Games remaining: vs Gujarat Lions (May 7), vs Kolkata Knight Riders (May 9), vs Mumbai Indians (May 11), vs Rising Pune Supergiant (May 13)

What they must do: Kings XI Punjab must win all their games to qualify. If they lose any one game, they will have to hope that Sunrisers Hyderabad lose one of their remaining games and that Delhi Daredevils win only two.

Delhi Daredevils

P - 11, W - 4, L - 7, Points - 8

Games remaining: vs Gujarat Lions (May 10), vs Rising Pune Supergiant (May 12), vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (May 14)

What they must do: Having lost to Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils now face a must-win situation. They must win all their remaining games and hope Kings XI Punjab win only two out of their remaining four games and that Sunrisers Hyderabad lose their remaining games.
