19:46 hrs IST: Sunil Narine is the Man of the Match for his 54 off 17 balls. He says, “I’m very surprised. Definitely wasn’t expecting something like this. Lynny just said, keep your eyes on the ball, maintain your focus and swing through the line. I try to keep it simple and back my ability.”

19:42 hrs IST: Gautam Gambhir: I haven’t seen such a partnership to be honest. It was an unbelievable effort. This is the best partnership I’ve seen in my entire career. You don’t see teams getting hundred in six overs.

19:34 hrs IST: Manish Pandey taps Negi to deep point and a single seals a thumping six-wicket win for Kolkata Knight Riders. With this win, they move to second in the points table while Royal Challengers Bangalore end up with just one win at home this season

19:33 hrs IST: Total action in Yuzvendra Chahal’s over. Yusuf Pathan missed the slog sweep thrice, one of them got the edge, Chahal charged and pleaded at the umpire but not given.

19:29 hrs IST: WICKET! The victory celebration will be delayed. Full and wide delivery outside off from Yuzvendra Chahal, Gambhir reaches out and slaps it to short cover where Negi takes the catch.

19:25 hrs IST: WICKET! Stumped! De Grandhomme, after hitting a massive six, tries to finish it in style but gets stumped. KKR need only seven though.

19:00 hrs IST: After all the carnage, there is a wicket maiden by Aniket Choudhary. But, KKR are so well ahead that they can afford this.

18:57 hrs IST: WICKET! Narine looks to pull but gets a faint edge and Aniket Choudhary gets the wicket. Not much celebrations from the RCB camp.

18:39 hrs IST: This is ‘Lynn’sanity at its best. He launches Chahal for a 96-meter six. Another four and 14 runs come off Chahal’s over.

18:37 hrs IST: Yuzvendra Chahal is into the attack now. Smart move considering spin could play a part on this wicket. But, Lynn pounces on a loosener to crack a short ball to deep cover.

18:36 hrs IST: In the air but safe! Narine dances down the track and slices a full ball from Samuel Badree but it goes over short third man for a boundary.

18:31 hrs IST: WHAM! Lynn has gotten going in style. No comeback rust from the Australian. He blasts two consecutive boundaries and a massive six off Choudhary. The distance of that six was 100 meters.

18:27 hrs IST: Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn have come out to open. Not Gautam Gambhir. Aniket Choudhary is opening the bowling.

18:18 hrs IST: Two consecutive sixes from Head and a four in the last over bowled by Umesh Yadav and Royal Challengers Bangalore end with 158/6. Gives their bowlers something to defend.

17:11 hrs IST: The covers are on. The rain is a bit heavier than expected. We are in for some delay. RCB will be hoping it is not a big one.

17:06 hrs IST: Head keeps his cool as he pounces on a tossed up delivery from Narine and slog sweeps it over the ropes at deep mid wicket. 12 runs in the over. RCB need more such overs.

16:38 hrs IST: Mandeep is looking in confident touch. He needs to carry on for RCB.

16:30 hrs IST: Oh boy! That was a nasty moment. Umesh Yadav’s ankle twisted as he was about to deliver and he lands awkwardly. However, he is alright.

16:24 hrs IST: WICKET! De Villiers was looking so dangerous but he departs. The South African batsman moves to the off side and looks to sweep but misses a quick and flat ball to get bowled.

16:20 hrs IST: De Villiers finds the boundary. Mandeep is looking to play pro-actively, first time any RCB player other than Kohli or de Villiers who is trying to do that.

16:12 hrs IST: DROPPED! Piyush Chawla makes a hash off it. Mandeep mistimed the lofted shot to mid off where Piyush runs back but fails to hold on to it.

16:11 hrs IST: Mandeep is looking in great touch as he slams another four off Umesh. He is capitalising on the short ball well here.

16:10 hrs IST: Mandeep Singh gives the crowd something to cheer as he slams an upper-cut four and a lofted six in successive deliveries of Chris Woakes.

15:31 hrs IST: Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and have chosen to bowl. Royal Challengers Bangalore are playing with the green jersey today as part of their Earth Day celebrations.

15:23 hrs IST: The wicket is under covers because there is a slight drizzle at the moment. Maybe might not affect the toss or the start of the match.

15:18 hrs IST: A warm welcome to the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Gautam Gambhir’s team must win this game if they are to progress to the play-offs in a smooth manner while Virat Kohli’s side will be desperate to get off the bottom.

The last time Royal Challengers Bangalore squared off against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli’s team were bundled out for 49, the lowest total in the history of the IPL. RCB never recovered from that result and they are languishing at the bottom. They can only spoil the play-off chances of some teams and Royal Challengers Bangalore can achieve it against Kolkata Knight Riders.

For Gautam Gambhir’s team, they seem to have suffered a loss in momentum after losing two consecutive games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rising Pune Supergiant. A win today will make their path to the play-offs easier but a loss could give the likes of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kings XI Punjab and even Delhi Daredevils a lifeline.

With only three spots available in the play-offs following Mumbai Indians’ qualification, the pressure will be on Gambhir to snap this losing streak.
