Manoj Tiwary chipped in with his most vital knock in IPL 2017 as his maiden fifty in this edition put Rising Pune Supergiant on course for a win against Delhi Daredevils at the Feroze Shah Kotla on Friday. (DD vs RPS: T20 MATCH BLOG)

Tiwary, who has chipped in with some vital knocks but has never gotten past fifty in IPL 2017, was instrumental in hilding together Rising Pune Supergiant’s innings on a tricky wicket. Along the way, he survived some chances. (DD vs RPS: T20 MATCH SCORECARD)

On 35, he mistimed a pull shot off Marlon Samuels to deep mid wicket but Sanju Samson could not hold on to the catch running in. On 40, he survived another chance, this time off Zaheer Khan as he looked to loft a full ball over cover but Karun Nair spilled the catch at cover.

Tiwary shared a 51-run stand with Ben Stokes who batted with confidence but on 33, he mistimed a full toss to long off. The right-hander notched up his sixth IPL fifty off 40 balls by pulling Pat Cummins for a six over deep backward square leg. His knock has put Rising Pune Supergiant on course to seal their spot in the play-offs for the first time.

He almost got Rising Pune Supergiant close to a victory with another six off Pat Cummins but the bowler held his nerve to give Delhi Daredevils a close win.
