The Delhi Daredevils skipper brought up his landmark by striking in the first ball of the Rising Pune Supergiant’s innings after his team had notched up 168/8. Rahane’s wicket was Zaheer’s first wicket after five games, having last taken a wicket in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens when he removed Gautam Gambhir for 14.
Zaheer became the ninth player in the history of the IPL to pick up 100 wickets and he achieved it in his 99th IPL game. He is the seventh Indian overall to pick up 100 wickets, with Amit Mishra leading the pack for Indian bowlers with 134 wickets in 125 games. Overall, Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga leads the wickets tally in IPL with 152 wickets in 107 games.
Delhi Daredevils are out of the play-off race and Zaheer has the chance to end IPL 2017 on a high when he plays his 100th game in the final league game of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 14.
