Virat Kohli scored his maiden hundred in the T20 format to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to 180/2 in the IPL match against Gujarat Lions in Rajkot on Sunday.
With a boundary off the last ball of the innings, Kohli got to his 100 in 63 deliveries, a knock that included 11 fours and a six.
The right hander has been on a roll in the shortest format this year. Including Sunday’s game, the RCB skipper has notched up a ton and three fifties in his last five IPL matches. For India, Kohli has scored eight half-centuries in his 12 innings this year, while two of those innings yielded scores of 41 and 49.
Coming as it did on his idol Sachin Tendulkar’s 43rd birthday, the knock set Twitter abuzz. So much so that even exiled liquor tycoon and former RCB owner Vijay Mallya himself tweeted about it.
