After failing to qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has promised to make a strong comeback next year.
Mumbai Indians’ hopes of making it to the top-four dented after they suffered a six-wicket defeat against Gujarat Lions in their last league game at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on Saturday.
Expressing his sadness after being knocked out of the tournament, Rohit posted a picture of the team on his Instagram account and wrote, “It’s not a team it’s a family, extremely sad that we couldn’t qualify for the playoffs. But not one person in that team was short of efforts we gave everything we had. Thank you each one of you for coming out and supporting the team we will be back stronger next year. @mumbaiindians.”
Mumbai Indians have already clinched the title twice under Rohit, first in 2013 before achieving it again in 2015.
The defending champions, however, managed to win just seven out of 14 games in the ongoing season, thus making a fifth-place finish in the tournament.
