An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified man in Jaipur’s Sanganer area, police said on Thursday.
The girl had gone to a local madarasa to attend classes on Wednesday evening when the accused lured her and took her to the terrace of the institution and raped her, said Sanganer station house officer (SHO) Rajendra Singh.
The incident came to light around 6pm Wednesday, after the girl came down crying and bleeding, the SHO said, adding that the classes at the madarasa were in progress when the rape took place.
The madarasa authorities informed the girl’s parents about the incident around 8pm, who then reported the matter to police.
The girl was admitted to a local hospital where medical examination confirmed rape, the police official said, adding that victim’s condition is stable.
A case has been registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and efforts are on to identify the accused, he added.
