Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla has filed a petition in the Rajasthan High Court challenging the election of his rival and Union Minister Namo Narayan Meena from Tonk-Swaimadhopur Lok Sabha constituency alleging the victor had indulged in malpractices.

The petition alleged that Meena, the Congress candidate, had won the election by indulging in malpractices, capturing booths and tampering with EVMs.

Meena had defeated Bainsla by 317 votes in the electoral battle.

“We have submitted all proof of the corrupt practice in support of our claim to get his election set aside. We have also submitted a video CD showing the minister of Ashok Gehlot government Ashok Bairwa sitting in one polling booth to see that the votes get polled in favour of the Congress candidate,” said PC Bhandari, who is the advocate for Bainsla.

Bainsla came to the high court to file the petition along with the advocate yesterday.

The final result of the election was kept pending due to some problem in EVM of one booth and the official announcement of Meena’s victory was announced a day after schedule.
