Hundreds of bank employees and officers staged a demonstration outside the Allahabad Bank near Ambedkar Circle in the city on Monday. The protestors also shouted slogans to implement the pay agreement.

On the call of United Forum of Bank Unions, 10 lakh bank employees and officers of the country will go on a strike from February 25 to 28 to demand the salary agreement pending for the last 27 months. UFBU state convener Mahesh Mishra said that due to stubborn attitude of the government and the Indian Bank Association, the UFBU demand has not been met, even as the ninth pay agreement expired on October 31, 2012 and a new pay agreement should have been implemented from December 1, 2012.

He said during the last 27 months, Indian Bank Association and UBFU held 27 bilateral meetings and IBA has agreed to increase salary by 13%, while the union is demanding 19%.
