Two people accused in connection with the disappearance of nurse Bhanwari Devi have reportedly confessed their involvement in the abduction. They have also admitted acquaintance with sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna, an accused in the case.

Sohan Lal Bishnoi and Baldev, who were arrested last month, said the abduction was done because Devi had a CD featuring her in an objectionable condition with the minister.

The revelations were made to the CBI during a three-hour interrogation at the Jodhpur Central Jail on Wednesday.

Devi had gone missing on September 1 from Bilara area in Jodhpur district, when she had gone to meet Bishnoi, a public health engineering department contractor.

"Bishnoi said he called Devi from Bilara to Borunda on the pretext of finding a buyer for a car she wanted to sell, and introduced Shahbuddin as a buyer," said an official on condition of anonymity. "She was then abducted by Shahbuddin and another man, Sahiram."

The CBI has been unable to trace Shahbuddin and Sahiram so far.
