The facebook page of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) in last 15 days has become so popular through fake ‘likes’ that it will break the record of earlier fake ‘likes’ of Ashok Gehlot, alleged BJP.

Minister of state social justice and empowerment minister and former BJP president Arun Chaturvedi on Tuesday alleged it was not new for RPCC to buy fake likes, but this social media scam during the Lok Sabha elections is very unfortunate and condemnable.

He said in the last 18-19 days, the likes of this page has increased in a very unprecedented manner and if location and graph of these likes are seen then maximum likes are from Istanbul city in Turkey. This is the same city, which had earlier shown likes for Gehlot FB page.

He said in the official page of Congress, most popular city is shown as Istanbul (Turkey) and the likes were 6839 from March 24 to 30, 2014, which increased to 1 lakh plus from April 13 onwards till date. The sudden spurt in ‘likes’ means they are fake.

In July 2013, BJP had accused Ashok Gehlot of buying likes from an Istanbul based firm for his page ‘Aapka Mukhyamantri Ashok Gehlot’. Gehlot FB page had shown 1,69,077 likes in 2013.

A Congress spokesperson said Rajasthan Congress Committee page has been hacked by an opposition party. “We fear that someone in the opposition has targeted the RPCC page and has sent likes to the page which maybe fake, especially from countries like Turkey, eastern-Europe and China,” he said.
