Barely a week after two constables allegedly raped a minor girl at a police station, four people, including the chairman of a civic body and the son of a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, were booked for the rape and murder of a 22-year-old woman on Thursday.
The police said the four accused - chairman of the local municipality Kamlesh Jaeliya; Ballu Jat, son of former BJP general secretary Ram Pal Jat; Manoj Parashar, son of the district collector's personal assistant; and property dealer Raj Kumar Sahu - raped the woman before poisoning her on Wednesday. The incident took place in Sawai Madhopur district, around 180 km from here.
All the accused are aged between 25 to 27 years, the police said.
"We took the body in our possession as soon as we received information about the incident on Wednesday night. The post mortem and the medical test, conducted on Thursday, suggest she died due to poisoning," said inspector Pramod Sharma, investigating officer.
None of the accused has been arrested.
In his complaint, the victim's father, Pooranmal, has alleged that the accused took his daughter in a vehicle on Wednesday on the pretext of some work in the municipality office.
When the victim did not return, the family launched a search and found her unconscious in Jaeliya's house.
They, however, did not inform the police and rushed the victim to SMS hospital in Jaipur.
She died on the way, Pooranmal said in his complaint.
