The last day for filing nominations to urban local body elections (ULBs) turned out to be most hectic for returning officers as the maximum number of nominations was filed on Tuesday.
Around 9,295 nominations were filed by 7,297 candidates till evening.
Bharatpur saw the most papers being filed, with 647 applications coming in for 50 wards, followed by Ganganagar, where 548 nominations were filed for the 50 wards of its civic body.
As per the information available at State Election Commission, for Jaipur Municipal Corporation, which has 91 wards, a total of 414 nominations have been filed, 275 of them on Tuesday.
The reason for this last day rush was late announcement of candidates by both the Congress and the BJP. In Jaipur, Congress announced its candidates Monday evening, when state party office witnessed scuffles and fisticuffs.
