A Rajasthan government employee posted in Sriganganagar district was on Monday arrested for allegedly leaking information to Pakistan's intelligence agency, a senior police official said.
Pawan Sharma, posted as lower division clerk at Sub Divisional Magistrate office in Suratgarh town of Sriganganagar district, was caught by a joint team of border intelligence unit of CID and district police on Monday.
Sriganganagar district is situated at Indo-Pak border.
"He was leaking information to someone across border on his mobile phone while he was trapped on Monday," Superintendent of Police Sriganganagar, Rupinder Singh said told PTI.
"A localite Sharma (32) was under surveillance for some time and he passed on important information related to Indian Army to Pakistan's intelligence agency because Suratgarh is an important place from strategic point of view," he said.
"Defence units are there and Mahajan firing range is near the area so it is very sensitive matter. The accused has been booked under Official Secrets Act," he added.
