Exam stress leads Jharkhand student to kill self

A girl studying in a coaching institute here hanged herself in her hostel room on Wednesday, police have said.

One student Nidhi Kumari, 19, daughter of Rajendra Raut and a resident of Jharkhand, allegedly committed suicide in her room in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area in Kota city early Wednesday.

The student was taking coaching for medical entrance examination at a private coaching institute here.

Jitendra Singh, sub inspector of Jawahar Nagar Police Station of Kota City, said one of her hostel mates informed the police that when other students had left for coaching in the morning, Nidhi had refused to attend the class and instead continued sleeping. Later, she was found hanging in her hostel room.

Singh said the deceased didn’t leave any suicide note.

When asked about the cause of suicide, he said the deceased was perhaps depressed due to her poor performance in studies. She was taking coaching in Kota from last one year, the sub inspector added. The parents of the girl have been informed about the suicide in Jharkhand who would reach Kota later in the day after which post-mortem would be conducted.
