Police arrested a Finnish woman, the son of a famous traditional Rajasthani Kalbelia dancer and 25 other revellers from an alleged rave party at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Jaipur on Tuesday.
Marijuana, smack and other drugs were found at the party organised to celebrate the birthdays of two people present there, additional deputy commissioner of police (west) Karan Sharma said.
A raid was conducted around 4am following specific information about narcotics abuse during the party at the farmhouse owned by Kalbelia dancer Gulabo, located at an isolated village along Sikar road.
“The party was hosted by Gulabo’s son Bhawani Sapera and the raiding team was greeted from a distance by high-decibel DJ music. The revellers smoked cigarettes and pipes filled with ganja and other narcotic substances,” the officer said.
Barring the 22-year-old foreigner, 26 people were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, a stringent law that has little provision of bail for the accused. “A separate legal process was initiated for the Finnish woman,” Sharma said.
Medical examination of the arrested people is being conducted.
Police were investigating if Gulabo was aware of the event. “Strict action will be taken if she is found guilty of providing a place for illegal parties,” Sharma said.
The dancer was unavailable for comment.
