Five new medical colleges to be opened in state

The union government in its 12th five year plan has approved the opening of five new medical colleges in five districts of Rajasthan namely Alwar, Bharatpur, Barmer, Dungarpur and in one more district which will be selected on the recommendation of the state government.

Union ministry of health and family welfare joint secretary Vishwas Mehta informed this by writing a letter to the principal secretary medical education of
Rajasthan.

A total of Rs 189 crore on each medical college will be spent out of which 75% cost will borne by the centre and 25% cost by the state government.

The medical colleges have to be set up within the limit of 10 kilometres of the district headquarters and memorandum of understanding will be signed between the centre and the state government regarding this.
