Hitting out at the BJP, the Congress alleged that the state government was in a state of slumber and not serious about swine flu.

Protesting against the antipeople policies of the BJP, several Congress supporters burnt an effigy of the government on Thursday.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesperson Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said at a time when people were dying of swine flu every day ministers and MLAs were sleeping.

Addressing a gathering at Hasanpura, Khachariyawas added that the BJP government had not fulfilled any of the promises made by them during the election campaign. Businessmen, labourers and farmers are suffering as a result of the government’s atrocities, the leader said.

“The government is not serious about the death toll and that’s the reason flu cases are increasing. If the situation remains the same, then the death toll would continue to rise. Flu medicines are not available in the market. The government has failed on all fronts,” Mahesh Joshi, the ex-MP of Jaipur, said.

Joshi added that if the government had remained vigilant, flu deaths could have been controlled.
