Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for hatching a conspiracy to incite the Gujjars led by Kirori Singh Bainsla to revive the agitation in the state.

Talking to newsmen today, Gehlot said that as per his information some BJP leaders of the state attended the marriage of BJP President's son in Nagpur where they reportedly outlined a strategy to provoke Gujjars' agitation prior to the delivery of judgment of the High Court on reservation issue.

The Chief Minister said that he will get it inquired to ascertain the truth about this hence he cannot say anything for certain now.

Slamming the previous BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje, Gehlot said that 21 police firing took place during her regime. "Her government clubbed two bills- 14 % reservation for economically backward classes and 5 % for Gujjars along with three others, which was illegal. The bill was brought in fraudulent manner, knowing full well, it would not be possible to implement," he alleged.

While making a fresh appeal to the Gujjars to call off their agitation and sit for talks, the Chief Minister said the community should understand the agitation is causing hardship to the people and making severe dent on economy. The government is making all efforts to fulfill their genuine demands.

He said that the government has acted as per the High Court orders. However, it will provide 1 % reservation and keep 4 % till the issue is settled.

Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee, President said that in the light of the High Court directives the government has taken all necessary measures which should be appreciated by the Gujjar leadership.

Since the government is talking to them they should also come forward with flexible and positive attitude.
