H1N1 toll crosses 100, over 1,000 tested positive

Principal secretary of medical education JC Mohanty on Tuesday took strict action against doctors at Sawai Man Singh Hospital for negligence while treating swine flu patients.

The order comes in the wake of the state recording 100 swine flu deaths this year.

Mohanty ordered that a charge-sheet be issued against associate professor Dr Raghvendra Choudhary and relieved assistant professor Dr Lakshmi Kant from services.

He had also directed officials to issue show-cause notice to unit in charge Dr PS Peepaliwar. When asked about the swine flu arrangements, he said there were sufficient kits available at medical colleges in the state and arrangements had been made for immediate checking of swine flu with the help of private laboratories. Jaisalmer, seven in Barmer, four in Kota, two each in Bundi and Udaipur, five in Banswara, seven in Chittorgarh, one in Dungarpur.

Dr Panagariya instructed officials to open a new intermediate ward at SMS Hospital.
