Rajasthan Governor SK Singh on Wednesday said that the country needs better educated and skilled population for higher income.
Addressing a convocation programme in Jaipur at University of Rajasthan on Wednesday, Singh said, "India has the largest young labour force in the world and to ensure higher incomes, we need a better-educated and more skilled population."
He also stressed on proper education system to achieve a sustainable growth.
"The higher education reforms under the Government's consideration will help in achieving the objective," he said adding, "We must always be conscious that ensuring good and more ambitious primary and secondary education, along can ensure better higher education."
The Governor also said that the country has been able to successfully implement reforms in certain sectors like telecom, but the country had its share of failure too and there have been areas, where we could benefit from further reforms.
Renowned economist Professor Jagdish N Bhagwati was honoured with degree of Doctor of Literature.
