The district administration was once again successful in stopping four child marriages in Kota on Friday on the occasion of Akshya Tritiya popularly known as Akha Teej, when large number of marriages is solemnized in the region.
The control room set up by the district administration for seeking information on the child marriages and the women and child development department received several complaints, following which they took immediate action and stopped such marriages.
Deputy director of women and child development department, Premlata Arora said the control room received information about a marriage of a minor girl of Bheel tribal community in the Ranpur area of Kota. She left for the wedding venue along with police officials and stopped the child marriage. The parents of the minor girl were brought to the Anantpura police station and warned of consequences of performing marriage of their minor girl.
A team of women and child development department prevented another marriage of a minor boy and his minor sister of the Mali community in the Kaithoon region of Kota rural on Friday. Similarly, the administration stopped marriage of a minor girl in Chhawani area of Kota on Thursday night.
