The deadlock over the Gujjars’ demand for five per cent reservation in the state services continued on Wednesday even as the government met legal experts to find a way out of the logjam.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot met Governor S K Singh and discussed the issue with him. “The government is committed to five per cent reservation to Gujjars and 14 per cent to the poor upper castes. We’re trying to look into the constitutional and legal aspects....,” he said.
He requested Gujjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsala to lift the Mahapadav , a gathering where the community is celebrating its culture, on in Pencholi village in Kauroli district since Monday. Bainsala turned down the CM’s request.
