The collapse of medical services at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan’s biggest hospital, is forcing patients to head for private hospitals. The state has asked private hospitals to charge the patients at standard rates approved for authorised government hospitals.

CRPF jawan Jai Singh Godara, 28, who was injured in a road accident is now being rushed from the premier government hospital to a private facility. Jagdish Prasad Sharma has shifted his sister Tara Devi, 25, from the burns ward of the hospital to a private hospital.

Jagdish Jangid from Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh who had admitted his father in the hospital on December 21 — the day the strike began — said, “No doctors are coming. We will shift him to private hospital.”
