Jaipur/Jodhpur: Union minister Anand Sharma on Friday launched a scathing attack on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, calling him arrogant.
“Modi is arrogant and has hatred written on his face. His thoughts and words do not reflect politeness. His only aim is to grab power at any cost,” alleged Sharma
He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of marking a publicity budget of `10,000 crore to project Narendra Modi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.
While addressing newspersons at Jaipur and Jodhpur, Sharma said it is for the first time elections publicity was being done on such a large scale for a person, who is being projected above society, country and to an extent over religion. The kind of resources being used in elections has never happened before.
“The approximate figure of expenditure which the BJP is spending for projecting Modi in this Lok Sabha election is around `10,000 crore. To whom this money belongs and what is the proportion of the black money -- only they can answer,” Sharma alleged.
The Congress budget for publicity he said was 25 times less than the BJP’s.
He also hit at the Gujarat model, calling it a disaster and not a successful development model. He said status-wise the state stands at the 17th position in education, leads in malnutrition deaths, and ranks 10th on electricity production.
Questioning the Gujarat model of democracy, he claimed the opposition in the state assembly could attend the house only for one or two days, as most of the time it would be suspended. “Modi is the only chief minister who has never answered or replied in the house. Besides, live coverage of the House proceedings is banned, as he cannot tolerate anyone asking him questions.
Over party’s defeat in the last assembly polls in Rajasthan, he said the party failed to make the people aware about its achievements. “But, now we are making efforts to spread the word about the UPA and its programmes,” he added.
“This election is between two different ideologies,” Sharma said, alleging that BJP is trying to polarize voters on the lines of religion and this was clearly indicated in the statements of Modi and his aide Amit Shah. He said BJP’s ideology is narrow and communal and it has been proved on many occasions that it cannot separate itself from the ideology of RSS. On mission 272 plus of BJP, he said our only mission is defeating Modi (BJP).
Meanwhile, Modi addressed the party workers at eight different locations across the state through the 3D hologram technique on Thursday.
