Rajasthan BJP MLA targets CM’s son for ‘neglecting’ Rajputs
The MLA was also critical of the state government for not giving prominent posts to the members of Rajput community in the state bureaucracy.
A Rajasthan MLA from the ruling BJP has targeted his own party’s Member of Parliament and son of chief minister Vasundhara Raje for “neglecting” the Rajput community. Ladpura MLA Bhawani Singh Rajawat was also critical of the state government for not giving prominent posts to the members of Rajput community in the state bureaucracy.
“It’s a fact that the Rajput community is feeling neglected. While there are about 2.5 lakh Rajputs in Hadauti region, Jhalawar MP finds time to meet only people from other communities that don’t have a significant presence,” Rajawat said targeting Dushyant Singh.
“There is no Rajput collector or SP in the entire state. There was a time during the regime of former chief minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat when the Rajputs used to hold their head high. This is no longer the case,” the MLA said.
Rajasthan panchayati raj minister and Rajput leader Rajendra Rathore dismissed Rajawat’s statement. “The party has done a lot for Rajput community and also for other communities. No one is above the party and we have to work together to ensure the party’s victory in the coming elections,” he said.

The Rajput community is upset with the ruling party and task seems to be cut out for Raje-led BJP government ahead of the assembly polls scheduled in state later this year.
In a meeting held in Sikar last week, the Rajput community leaders had decided to launch ‘BJP hatao, Rajasthan bachao’ (remove BJP, save Rajasthan) campaign from June 3. The community is upset with the state government for not paying heed to its various demands and also for imposing urban development tax on Rajput Sabha Bhawan in Jaipur.
Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, an I fluential Rajput outfit, has decided to send over 10,000 postcards to BJP national president Amit Shah urging him to appoint Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a Rajput, as party’s state unit chief.
Ahead of the by-elections to two parliamentary and one assembly seats in January, Rajput organisations had announced their support to the Congress and some community leaders had also campaigned for the Opposition candidates on all three seats. The Congress had won the three bypolls.
This is not the first time that Rajawat has stirred a controversy. The MLA was in news two months ago when he had asked BJP workers to tie to tree officials who slap penalty on farmers for power theft or overload.
