The three-phase panchayat elections in Rajasthan will begin from January 16 and conclude on January 30 next year, according to the Rajasthan election commission on Wednesday.
Polling in Dungarpur, Banswara and Jaislamer districts will, however, be held in two phases. It will be a three-phase affair in the remaining 30 districts of the state, state election commissioner Ramlubhaya said.
The nomination for members of panchayat samitis and zila parishads will begin soon after the notification to this effect is issued on January 3, he said.
The last date for filing the nominations is January 6, their scrutiny January 7 and the withdrawal of nominations January 8 upto 3pm, he said.
The first phase of polling is on January 16, the second on January 22 and the third on January 30. The counting of votes, will however, be on February 5 at the district headquarters, he said.
The notification for the election of panchs and sarpanchs would be held on January 3. The nominations for the first, second and third phases will be held on January 17, January 23 and January 31 respectively. The scrutiny of papers and withdrawal of the nominations would be held the same day and the polling (for panchs and sarpanchs) would be held on January 18, January 24 and February 1.
The election of zila pramukhs and pradhans will be held on February 7, deputy zila pramukhs and pradhans on February 8, he said.
The panchayat election is being held for 33 zila pramukhs and 33 deputy zila pramukhs, 295 pradhans and as many deputy pradhans, 1013 zila parishad members, 6258 panchayat samiti members, 9872 sarpanchs and as many deputy sarpanchs and 10,94,69 panchs.
