Rajasthan police have terminated the services of a sub-inspector for alleged bigamy and submitting a false affidavit for the second marriage, a top official said on Saturday.

Kota inspector general of police (IG) Ravi Prakash Mehrada said that SI Surendra Singh committed bigamy in 2005 when he was posted in Kota city between 2004 and 2006.

Singh, already married in 1995, married another woman in 2005 at the Arya Samaj in Kota without divorcing his first wife, said Mehrada.

The accused also produced a false affidavit of being unmarried, to the Arya Samaj for his second remarriage.

Later, the police department received a complaint against Singh and initiated a probe.

Singh who was transferred from Kota around one-and-a-half years ago also did not join duty in Bikaner, his new place of posting.
