A teacher of a government school in Pali district allegedly molested five girl students of Class 8 during their mathematics exam on March 14, police said on Sunday. Police have registered a case under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the teacher and launched an investigation.

Station house officer (SHO) Rajendra Singh, Sojat City police station, said the victims studying at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) had gone to Sojat City’s Government Senior Secondary School for examination on March 14 when a teacher molested them. “We have received the complaint from the head mistress of KGBV Shobha Chauhan and registered a case under Pocso and SC/ST Act, since some of the girls belong to the SC community,” Singh said.

The case has been transferred to circle officer (Sojat) Bhanwar Lal Sisodia, since a case under SC/ST Act cannot be investigated by an officer less than the rank of a deputy superintendent of police.
