Kota police on Sunday detained five people accused in the gang rape two minor girls in Ramganjmandi area of Kota city, police said. Two cousin sisters, belonging to Meghwal community of Kudaliya village, were allegedly gangraped by five men on Thursday when they had gone to defecate in open, they said.
Station house officer of Ramganjmandi police station, Harshraj Singh said the two girls, aged between 15-16 years, were dragged behind the bushes by two men, identified as Raju Meena and Ramesh Kumar, and raped repeatedly.
The girls were then taken inside a van, where three other accomplices of the two accused, raped the girls in the moving vehicle.
“The three aides have been identified as Bajrang Meghwal, Bunty Gurjar and Suraj. They raped the girls inside the van while moving on a road leading to Jhalawar district. The accused, aged between 24-28 years, then dumped the two sisters in Bakani region of Jhalawar district,” the SHO said.
The girls somehow managed to reach their village and informed their families about the incident, he said.
On Saturday, the victims lodged a case against the five under Indian Penal Code Section 376, Protection of Children from Sexual offenses (POCSO) Act and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Act, he said. Medical examination of the victims has been conducted, he added.
“Police have detained all the five accused who hail from the same village Kudaliya and are interrogating them in the case. The four wheeler (van) used by three accused in the crime has also been recovered from the accused,” Singh said. Deputy superintendent of police (SP) Ramganjmandi, Chandan Dan Barhat, has been given the charge of the investigation as the case belongs to SC/ST, he said.
