CM Vasundhara Raje on Saturday directed the power distribution companies to make the entire process consumer-friendly and speed up redressal of complaints.
Holding a review meeting of the discoms (distribution companies), she emphasised on redesigning the electricity bills and making them more consumer-friendly. She also stressed on relying more on information technology.
Energy minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar directed to develop a system for a high-level redressal of complaints lodged on toll-free number of consumer complaint redressal centres functioning in each district.
He said the registration of complaints lodged on toll-free system should be done through software. He also directed to maintain a register to lodge complaints of burnt out transformers at 33kv sub stations, in which complaints lodged by customers over phone should be entered in the register and complaints lodged by consumer in person should be given a receipt of the complaint in writing. He asked to ensure that transformer is replaced within 72 hours.
The minister asked officials to rectify the mistakes made in electricity bills by three discoms and to strengthen replacing burnt transformers. He said sufficient quantity of additional transformers should be kept at sub-division level.
He said filter system in billing software will be implemented from March 5 to remove the mistakes in electricity bills, in which the bill will stop if it is being processed wrongly and the bills can be issued by assistant engineer after verifying at his level.
Energy minister said that 30,000 new domestic connections would be given under ‘CM electricity for all’ scheme.
State government has appointed Vishwanath Hiremath as the chairman of Rajasthan Electricity Regularity Commission (RERC) and Vinod Pandya has been appointed member (finance) of RERC.
