Members of the Congress legal cell presented a memorandum to State Election Commission of Rajasthan through additional district magistrate and returning officer for panchayati raj elections in Ajmer Kishore Kumar regarding the distribution of Bhamasha cards by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The memorandum alleged that there has been violation of the model code by the BJP.

The Congressmen alleged that the Bhamasha cards distributed in the state have chief minister Vasundhara Raje's photo imprinted on it with a saffron background and hence is a clear violation of the model code of conduct.

They demanded immediate ban on distribution of these cards from the state election commission.

"It is for the first time in the history of the state that a CM has got her photo imprinted on a government public document. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje is grossly misusing her official power for enhancing her party's agenda," alleged Vaibhav Jain, president Congress legal cell.

The state's BJP government is wrongly using tax payers' money for the party's propaganda which cannot be justified, he added.

Another member and the cell former president, Vivek Parashar, alleged that by distributing Bhamashah cards with all party symbols (lotus, party colour and CM's photo) on it, the BJP is carrying out its campaign and is misleading the people.

Meanwhile, Kishore Kumar said these cards were not being distributed in the district.

He, however, said that he would inquire into the matter if any such card was distributed after code of conduct was enforced.
