A Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer died in a road accident on Wednesday morning while she was on her way to Suratgarh.
In another incident, two policemen died near the Military Gate when their motorcycle rammed into a truck.
The RAS officer, Archana Sirohi (33), had been posted there as a protocol officer for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Thursday visit. Lower division clerk (LDC) Naresh Yadav accompanying her and driver Madan Mohan Tiwari received injuries.
The official Bolero of Sirohi, the additional chief executive officer of Bikaner zila parishad, collided with a canter in Jamsar, 40 km from Bikaner on the Bikaner-Ganganagar road.
The impact of the collision was so strong that the jeep got totally damaged. Locals rushed all the three occupants to PBM Hospital in Bikaner. Sirohi, however, died on the spot.
The RAS officer was scheduled to attend a meeting with the chief minister ahead of PM’s visit. Bikaner superintendent of police (SP) Santosh Kumar Chalke confirmed the accident that occurred on NH-15 around 6.30am. He said Yadav and Tiwari were in a critical condition.
Jamsar station house officer (SHO) Devendra Singh said they had seized the canter but the driver managed to flee.
Bikaner collector Arti Dogra and other officers rushed to the hospital after hearing the news.
Sirohi’s mater nal uncle Birendra Singh said the body was expected to reach around 8pm. The cremation will take place on Thursday. The deceased was a 2012-batch RAS officer and her father is posted in Bikaner as a junior engineer in the irrigation department.
In another accident, two policemen from Manjhu was (Ganganagar) and Alwar died when their motorcycle collided with a truck carrying policemen from Rajsamand for PM’s function.
The police said the truck driver had been ar rested. Ganganagar additional SP Manoj Chaudhary, DSP Rashi Dogra and other police officers were on their way to Suratgarh in the truck when the accident took place.
